The TANYO 2‑in‑1 Shelf Pin and Hinge Jig works well and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The 1/4‑inch adjustable guide makes drilling consistent shelf pin holes pretty simple, and the hinge jig is a nice bonus for cabinet work. The material feels sturdy enough for regular shop use, and the layout is easy to follow even if you’re not a pro. It’s not fancy, but it’s accurate, convenient, and saves time on projects. For the price, getting both jigs in one tool is a solid deal. Five stars from me.

TANYO Shelf Pin Jig and Hinge Jig, 2-in-1
$23.99 – $31.99
✓ Shelf pin jig + 35 mm hinge jig in one
This shelf pin jig does two jobs in cabinet making: a row of shelf pin holes at even spacing and 35 mm hinge cups at the right inset. All-metal, with removable drill guides for 1/4 in and 5 mm bits, double-sided scales and a clamping fixture.
Use a depth stop on the bit. Shelf-pin holes only need to be 3/8 in deep, and a stop keeps you from drilling through the side panel.

Garage storageHow to use the shelf pin jig
Mark the bottom of the jig and always place it against the same edge — the front edge of the cabinet side or the bottom shelf — so both sides of the cabinet get holes at exactly the same height. Clamp it, set a stop collar on the drill bit for the hole depth (3/8 in is typical for 5 mm or 1/4 in shelf pins), and drill through each drill guide. Move the jig along and use the pin in the last hole as a locator to keep the spacing continuous.
For the second side, flip the jig and register it from the same edge. Count the holes before you start; a shelf only sits level when the pins line up side to side.

- 35 mm concealed hinge cups at the correct inset from the door edge.
- Adjustable shelves in kitchen cabinets, bookcases and wardrobes.
- Adding shelves to a finished cabinet without removing it.
- Locating holes for drawer slides and other hardware.

There's probably more capability with this tool than I'll ever know how to use, but I just needed to drill shelf pin holes, and it's been working great for me. I'm building all of my own kitchen cabinets, so I do need quality, and I'm not complaining about this tool!
